Teaching: Colors and Culture

This exercise was done to create pre-, during- and postreading exercises for the class at metropol, but created according to the FFM of a 7th grade.


In retrospect, I would have changed the slide around a little. I would start it by stating the goals for today, stating the theme and asking the class if they knew about the  Holi Festival or Color Run. I would also show them the pictures before they started reading the text, and describe the whole assignment. Then I would hand out the text, or send it to them, so they could read it for themselves.

When we did the exercise, it wasn't transparent, and by making these changes, it would have made it more enjoyable and less frustrating for the students. also creating a debate in the beginning of class, the students warm up to speaking English as well.
